Checkers

Checkers is the classic board game with nothing in the way. There is no
download, no account, and no setup for a local game. Open it, pick an
opponent, and make your first move.

Play whichever way suits the moment. Challenge the computer at Easy, Medium,
or Hard. Hand your phone or laptop across the table for pass and play. Or
create a private online game, send a friend the code, and you are playing as
soon as they join. Any game can carry a clock, from a one minute bullet game
to fifteen minutes with an increment, or no clock at all when you would
rather take your time.

The rules are the ones you grew up with, enforced properly. Captures are
compulsory, jumps chain across the board, a crowned king ends the turn where
it stands, and a player with no legal move loses. The board shows you what is
legal before you commit: pick up a piece to see where it can go, and when a
capture is forced, the pieces it leaves frozen fade out so the rule is
visible rather than a surprise.

Nothing you play is lost. A game against the computer or in pass and play is
saved as you go, clocks included, so closing the tab or putting your phone
down costs you nothing. Afterwards you can step back through the whole game
move by move, jump straight to any position, and copy or download it as a PDN
file that other draughts software can read.
