Klondike Solitaire

1+

This is the solitaire people mean when they just say solitaire. Seven
columns of cards, a face down pile you turn over one card at a time, and
four spaces at the top where each suit is built up from the ace to the king.
There is nothing to download and no account to make. Open the page and a
hand is already dealt.

Move a card by dragging it where you want it, or simply click it and the
game puts it wherever it is allowed to go. Changed your mind? Undo goes back
hundreds of moves, not just the last one, so one careless play never has to
cost you the game. If you close the game and come back later, the hand is
waiting exactly as you left it, though the list of moves you can take back
starts fresh from there.

On a laptop or a tablet the cards are drawn as real playing cards, with
proper artwork on the jacks, queens, and kings. Narrow the window to phone
size and the cards switch to a plain, easy to read number and suit in the
corner, so nothing ever gets too small to make out.

Win, and you get more than a message. Every card leaps off its pile and
bounces down the screen until the whole deck has tumbled away. If your phone
or computer is set to cut back on animation, the game respects that and goes
straight to the result instead.

Nothing here is timed. There is no clock ticking and no penalty for
thinking. The only number on screen while you play is your move count, and
when you win the game tells you whether you have beaten your own best. That
record is kept on the device you play on. If you happen to be signed in to
Puter, it quietly follows you to your other devices as well. You are never
asked to sign in, and nothing about the game changes if you would rather
not.
